Four women on run from prison centre in western Sydney after failing to return from day leave (ABC) - ( 4U5TR4L14 )
Police are searching for four women who have escaped from a correctional facility in western Sydney.
The women were living at the Bolwarra Transitional Centre in Emu Plains, a transitional centre housing prisoners nearing the end of their sentences who are eligible for day release.
About 7:00pm on Saturday staff noticed the women had failed to return from day leave.
Police from Penrith Local Area Command searched the surrounding area overnight, including several train stations and pubs.
The women, aged between 20 and 40, are serving sentences for drug, property, driving, fraud, robbery and assault offences.
Acting Inspector David Jones says there is no suggestion they are dangerous.
“It’s not the public’s job to apprehend them, that’s what the police are there for,” he said. “So if they sight these people, just contact the police.”
